The Mush Room

For the 2022 edition of HIX London, entitled Great Things Will Grow, we created an experimental installation: a bar that would physically grow before the event and serve as a showcase for mycelium’s potential in design. We drew inspiration from the stillness of the COVID-19 pandemic, a time when the world seemed to pause. In response, we set out to create something that symbolized regeneration.

Great Things Will Grow

In collaboration with La Succulente and French artist Côme Di Meglio, we explored the artistic potential of mycelium. The design of the mycelium bar was inspired by the shapes and textures of shells. Its overall form has a sacral, tomb-like quality—a metaphor for laying old ways of thinking to rest and making space for new ideas in design.
